Why is Costa Rican Coffee So Great?

Traditional Costa Rican Method of Making Coffee Chorreado

Several factors favored the establishment of the "Golden Grain" in Costa Rica.  The places around which the first plantations were characterized by:

  • extremely fertile volcanic soils
  • a dependably predictable rainy season and dry season
  • and relatively uniform and mild temperatures throughout the year for the development of the plant

The volcanoes and mild temperatures make Costa Rica a fun place to visit, too!
